Competitive Sports Program

St Stephen Catholic School recognizes its obligations to develop and monitor academic performance and conduct to ensure student-athletes realize team sports are a privilege and participation in the games require the maintenance of academic standards and appropriate behavior.

In order for students to maintain eligibility to participate in extra-curricular sports activities, students’ work must maintain at least a “C” average (70%) in all subjects and have a "3" for all ATL's. including all specials (art, PE, music, etc.). Eligibility is determined each Monday by noon.  Students who do not meet this requirement will be ineligible to participate in any games, practices, activities, or meetings that week.  Grades will be checked on Monday for the week Tuesday through the following Monday of extracurricular eligibility.  Eligibility will be checked ONCE on Mondays. 

In order to determine eligibility, Coach Green will check all the student-athletes' grades through RenWeb on Monday by noon. If a student-athlete is determined to be ineligible in any subject or due to conduct, Coach Green will contact that teacher to make sure the grades posted are correct and updated. After the grade(s) have been certified by the class teacher, Coach Green will inform the student-athlete and notify the parents/guardians by email or a phone call.

The final decision of eligibility is at the discretion of the teacher and/or principal.

St. Stephen Catholic School has both boys and girls Varsity Flag Football teams for students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The girl's flag football season begins with tryouts the first week of January and lasts until the end of February.  Our championship-winning boy's Flag Football team begins tryouts in mid-March and runs through mid-May.

Starting in the sixth grade, boys and girls can play soccer at St. Stephen Catholic School. Tryouts are held in mid-August and the season runs from August until mid-October.

Both girls and boys in the fifth grade are encouraged to participate in track.  For the boys, the season starts in October and closes with two track meets in November.  The tryout practice for the girls' track team is the first week of March and the season runs through late April. Fifth and sixth-grade girls are encouraged to participate in the JV league, while seventh and eighth-graders compete for the Varsity league.
